Inti Illimani, de Nueva York a Valparaíso

Como es habitual, Inti Illimani (el único Inti) no para de tocar, de entregar su música, su magia, su profesionalismo y claramente no para de encantar a quienes son parte viva de todo lo que se genera en sus presentaciones, sea donde sea.

Luego de la exitosa gira por Norteamérica, Inti Illimani recala en el querido puerto, en "Pancho", en la Joya del Pacífico, en Valparaíso.
A continuación el reportaje del concierto brindado por el Inti en el Teatro Municipal de Valparaíso.

Inti-Illimani en el Municipal de Valparaíso

Este jueves 27 de noviembre Inti-Illimani dio su primer concierto de regreso luego de su exitosa gira por Canadá y EEUU. El público esperaba ansioso la aparición del grupo en el escenario, ellos cómo de costumbre, se hicieron esperar…
Cerca de las 21:20 hrs. comenzó el show que continuó, sin descanso hasta las 23:15 hrs.
Inti-Illimani evoca momentos, personales y de la historia, lugares, hasta aromas… sin duda ésta presentación tuvo mucho de eso, pasamos por distintos ánimos, saludamos y recordamos a gente siempre querida, visitamos lugares o ellos a nosotros a través de la mágica música y también tuvo sabor a despedida (hasta el 2009, claro está) por lo menos para nosotros los porteños. El público aportó lo suyo… ver a Inti en Valparaíso es diferente, la gente no es espectador es parte de todo, de los comentarios entre canciones, de las canciones y hasta del repertorio porque claro, si quiere escuchar una canción simplemente la pide cómo quién comparte con amigos en living de su casa.
Así paso la noche… entre amigos…así dijimos “Hasta muy pronto Inti-Illimani”

On Thursday 27th of November Inti –Illimani presented a show at the “Municipal de Valparaíso Theatre” the first in Chile after their Canadá and USA tour. People was anxious to see them on stage. They, as usually they do, take their time…
The show began at around 21:20 and continued with non stop until 11:15.
Inti-Illimani bring up to the memory places, smells, particular times, to your own and to the history, we enjoyed all of this of course. We felt different at every song, we reminded special and loving people, we visited places or more like they visited us trough the power of the magic music. And also we felt this kind of “goodbye” feeling (just until 2009 for sure) at least to us who live in Valparaíso. People made it their way… Seen a show of Inti-Illimani in Valparaíso is certainly different, people gets envolved, is kind of allowed to keep a conversation or to ask for a song just like any of us charing a wonderful time with friends at home…
We spent the night just like that, with friends… and just like that we said “See you soon Inti-Illimani”

Inti Illimani en la gran manzana...New York

Nuestro amigo José López nos entrega, desde Nueva York, el reporte de la presentación de Inti Illimani en el Queens Theatre de Flushing Meadows, New York.

Estimados amigos, les comento que el concierto de esta noche estuvo espectacular, el público vivió intensamente las canciones que Inti-Illimani esparce por el mundo y que cada día consigue más adictos a su música. Cada uno de los integrantes dio lo mejor de sí para satisfacción del público y mostro su profesionalismo al tocar cada instrumento que le correspondía de acuerdo con la canción interpretaban.
Vale destacar que todos sus integrantes son polifacéticos al tocar varios instrumentos y de manera muy profesional como se puede observar en las fotos adjuntas, también destaco que todos cantan y cada uno lo hace con mucha calidad vocal, lo cual asombro a los nuevos espectadores y nos lleno de alegría a los fans del grupo.
Todas las canciones espectaculares y personalmente destaco "Samba Landó" de la que hicieron una interpretación fenomenal, en esta canción todo el público participo para ir a un merecido descanso y regresar llenos de música para seguir con este concierto inolvidable, destacando canciones de Violeta Parra, Victor Jara de grata recordación y evocando los tiempos de Salvador Allende.
Se despidieron del publico que no los dejaba ir pidiendo en un coro gigante otra...! otra...! Para regresar y tocar "Sobre tu Playa" una cumbia colombiana con arreglos sensacionales que puso al publico a bailar.....Otra vez se despidieron y el público de pie aplaudiendo y esperando el regreso de inti illimani... El grupo gentilmente regreso con mas sabor y cerró la noche con otra canción espectacular que termino cantando el publico en un coro gigantesco......!
Noche Espectacular con un Inti Illimani que con el paso de los Años suena mejor y sigue tan campante llevando el folclor andino y en especial el de Chile por el mundo entero..... Que viva Inti Illimani. Los esperamos pronto de regreso en la Gran Manzana...

Dear friends, the evening of November 21st Inti-Illimani performanced a show just great, people there was deeply in touch with every of the songs that Inti-Illimani carries to the World getting more and more fans every day. Every one of them gave his best playing wonderfully each and every of the instruments as the song required.

It worths to remark that every single member is versatil playing professionally several instruments as you can see at the pictures add, they all also sang and not just that they do it perfectly and this impress to the people whose were there watching for the first time and moved to the fans.

All the songs were spectacular, specially “Samba Landó” which was played tremendously, everybody got in with this song and then we made a necessary break to came back with this unforgatable concert which brought to our minds times of Salvador Allende specially with songs by Violeta Parra and Victor Jara.

They left the stage against the request of the audience asking for more and more so they came back at stage and played “Sobre tu Playa” a Colombian cumbia which got everybody dancing…They took leave again and people standing up kept asking for more. They were very generous and spice up the night even more, they end with another great song wich people there sang along…

An spectacular evening with an Inti-Illimani that sounds better and better everytime and brings the best of folcklore music and specially Chilean music to the World just like that… Long life to Inti-Illimani. And we hope you come back to the Big Apple soon…

Continuando con la entrega del reportaje gráfico al concierto ofrecido por Inti Illimani en el Phoenix Concert Theatre de Toronto, Canadá.

Agradecemos una vez más a nuestro amigo Manuel Jofré que gentilmente nos hace llegar este inédito material para todos ustedes.

Because of the importance and story, to meet again with a group like Inti-Illmani is everything but easy. It is along way, besides not very often we can easy get their music and when faces change we understand that the new faces let us know that changes are to make the develop of the groups to walk straight to the future.
In this cold and further lands seen a first class artistical performance is not that common. So to me was quite an experience which took all of my resources to get full access. And being announcer of a radio program dedicated to Chile doing this is necesary and most of the times totally an adventure.
The cybernetic technology lately has been of big help to be able to show not just Chilean and Latin America audience but Canadians and listener general. To make it happen I am provided of a great database on which I have been advertising several shows and activities.
On the cold evening of November 16th at the Phoenix Concert Theatre, place for many kinds of performances, Inti-Illimani´s Show was what we call a dream come true which had growing along this last time many unknown senses. They took a while before starting the show but when they got on stage everybody was there got some kind of memorial shut, maybe some of them reminded the last Inti-illimani performed they have seen. The sound was excellent and somehow we were getting in a carnival where we were allowed to hear the memorably songs of the band. We heard songs by Violeta Parra, Víctor Jara y Patricio Manns, most of us heard the new voices too and I don´t know if is just me or they are very alike and they give color and material to the sound.
With this new air of enthusiasm and skill in performing they mix both old a new hits showing this constant move between memories and this endless artistic finding which was felt by most of the audience.
Certainly was Inti-Illimani playing there creating this warm and moving atmosphere, taking us to the memories that bring their story, to the visions of the beginning times, of the exile and to the return to the beloved homeland.
Time waiting to meet them and their musical baggage again totally worth it!! The whole performance shows where do they go, thinking of, maybe in a near future, to let their musical light so their legacy of memory can goes on leaving behind places, moments, disagreements, but no one would never forget Inti-Illimani´s legacy when is on stage even less would forget us. We keep in expectation of one o more artists are brought by the hazard of the muses.
They were ask the come back on stage two times by the tireless audience who wanted the moment to last forever and that speaks by it self. To express the real meaning of have seen again to Inti-Illimani it is hard and simple at the same time, you just have to stay quiet and hear, the music, words on it and everything left it is a perfect balance between they, happy doing their job, and us listeners, the easy part but hard to explain.
And to finish I would like to thanks to my journalist destination in giving me one of the most pleasant opportunities, of listening and sharing with the members of Inti Illimani the tour 2008, a memory I will keep in my files with a golden nail … … thank you for the music … .. friendship … and memory.

Reencuentro con Inti Illimani en Toronto

Desde Toronto, Canadá, nuestro amigo Manuel Jofré Aravena nos envía este artículo en el que describe lo vivido por la concurrencia, en el concierto que Inti Illimani ofreció el Domingo 16 de Noviembre.

Reencontrarse con un grupo de la relevancia, historia y trayectoria de Inti Illimani después de tantos años no es muy fácil, la distancia es un factor, el contacto que a veces es esporádico con su música también juega en contra, y por lo general los rostros van cambiando con el tiempo y las nuevas incorporaciones nos dan una muestra que todo evoluciona y da paso a que el desarrollo de agrupaciones se encamine en el futuro con pasos largos y contundentes.

Como muy bien todos sabemos en estas tierras heladas en invierno y a doce horas de vuelo desde Chile, no es muy común o cotidiano contar con una presentación artística de primera línea, con mucha frecuencia. Así que para mí personalmente es una misión extraordinaria en la cual no escatimo en gastar todos y hasta los últimos recursos para tener acceso de primera mano. Estando bajo la conducción de un programa dedicado a Chile es imperativo y hasta a veces quijotesco.

La tecnología cibernética últimamente ha sido de gran ayuda, con el afán de poder comunicarse e informar a mis pares chilenos, latinoamericanos, canadienses y con el público en general, dispongo de una base de datos impresionante lo cual me ha permitido lanzar la voz y encuadrar publicitariamente varios eventos y actividades.

El concierto de Inti Illimani en la fresca noche del día Domingo 16 de Noviembre en Phoenix Concert Theatre , lugar de presentaciones muy diversas, fue como muy comúnmente decimos un sueño hecho realidad, que se venia gestando por mucho tiempo y que albergaba muchas incógnitas. Si bien hubo una pequeña demora en comenzar, ya sea intencional o no, quedó rápidamente desechada y olvidada instantáneamente con la aparición del grupo en el escenario, creo que la gran mayoría de los espectadores recibieron una especie de inyección memorial, algunos quizás se transplantaron a la ultima presentación de Inti Illimani que habían visto. Frente a un impecable sonido comenzó a desarrollarse la caravana musical, que fue dando paso a las memorables canciones que han ido caracterizando a las actuaciones de la agrupación. Temas de la autoría memorial de Violeta Parra, de Víctor Jara y Patricio Manns comenzaron a llenar los oídos de los presentes y si bien se pueden apreciar las nuevas voces, que para mi apreciación suenan igual que las originales dan una textura y colorido indiscutible en su ejecución.

Con la incorporación de sangre joven, llena de un espíritu renovado y virtuosidad a toda prueba entrelazaron canciones antiguas y nuevas creaciones de su último trabajo discográfico dejando a lo largo de su actuación, un claro matiz, mezclando el recuerdo y la eterna búsqueda artística que pudimos apreciar y que la gran mayoría de los presentes sintió a lo largo del concierto.

Sin modificar los esquemas del sonido y armonías en sus interpretaciones fue Inti Illimani creando un ambiente calido y dinámico, envolviendo tácitamente en el recuerdo que ha proyectado su trayectoria, de su mirada en los tiempos de su inicio, del exilio y el retorno a la patria querida.

Obviamente la espera para reencontrarnos con su bagaje musical valió la pena, todo ese manantial de recuerdos y notas nuevas, nos muestran como se perfila y para donde van encaminándose, pensando en pasar la antorcha musical en un futuro cercano talvez, para que la memoria de su legado trascienda , lugares y tiempo, controversias y desasosiegos, pero que nunca nada ni nadie podrá fácilmente olvidarse de una agrupación como Inti Illimani, cuando actúa y entrega su legado, en especial a los patiperros que vivimos dispersados en el mundo a la espera de uno o varios artistas sean traídos por el azar de las musas.

El par de veces que se tuvieron que devolver para satisfacer el pedido del incansable público lo dice todo, son esas sensaciones de querer que el evento no finalice y siga por siempre, por supuesto que no se puede, pero esa es la idea. Contener y explicar lo que se siente frente al reencuentro con un grupo de esta magnitud como Inti Illimani es complicado, pero a la vez simple, solo hay que quedarse callado y escuchar, el recuerdo y la sensación de asimilar su música, las letras y todo lo que pase, es una mística reciproca, ellos están felices haciendo su labor artística y nosotros la parte receptiva, quizás la mas fácil pero difícil de explicar.

Y para finalizar quisiera agradecer a mi destino reporteril en darme una de las más gratas oportunidades, de escuchar y compartir con los integrantes de Inti Illimani el tour 2008, que quedara clavado en mis archivos con un clavo de oro……gracias Inti Illimani por la música…..amistad…..recuerdo y memoria.

Estimados, todo salió a maravillas, el encuentro con Jorge y los muchachos antes del concierto, el evento mismo fue maravilloso, muchos años de ausencia se notan.
Tengo fotos, algunos videos, pero les pido un poco de tiempo para preparar un articulo. Como broche de oro el lunes hicimos el programa con Jorge Coulon. Le comente de nuestro contacto, y se alegro mucho.
Los muchachos se van mañana a Montreal y luego a New York.

The guys are going tomorrow to Montreal and then to New York.

12 de Noviembre... Inti Illimani en Chicago

Saludos desde Chicago. Bueno, ayer fuimos a ver a los Intis en Chicago y fue como siempre, excelente. Acá va mi colaboración para tu blog.

Hemos ido a ver a los Inti cada vez que vienen a Chicago, durante mucho tiempo. Nosotros como familia estamos orgullosos de que los Inti, ahora nos reconocen como la familia Erazo, y nosotros los saludamos siempre con un beso, un abrazo y una sonrisa. Era una gran reunión cuando nos vimos otra vez el miércoles 12 de noviembre.

El Inti Illimani se presentaba en un teatro, recientemente renovado, llamado Morse Theatre. Esta nueva arena para los conciertos es hermosa y pequeña, así que era una gran adición, a la sensación íntima que los conciertos del Inti dan generalmente.

Lamentablemente solo tocaron por 75 minutos, puesto que tenían otro concierto inmediatamente después del cual fuimos. Soy ciertamente celosa de otras ciudades, en que tienen la oportunidad de escuchar un concierto del Inti por más de 80 minutos. ¡Quisimos ciertamente más!!

Durante el concierto, Jorge tomó la oportunidad de agradecernos "Chicagoans" por elegir por el cambio y la esperanza, en referencia a Obama. Que linda persona no?

Son fabulosos como siempre y nos dejaron saber que estarán el próximo año en el Grant Park en Chicago. Esto es muy bueno, si cualquier persona de Chicago recuerda la presentación, que es una presentación excelente, que definitivamente necesita de ser repetido otra vez.

Aquí un comentario para los padres - la cancion Vino Del Mar es una gran canción del arrullo para los bebés. Nuestro hijito de 10 meses escuchaba canción. Para el final de la canción, él era contento de dormir.

Gracias Inti por una gran memoria una vez mas. Y para Jorge, como siempre nuestro "Che Viejo" nos vemos pronto.

Greetings from Chicago. Well, yesterday we went to see Inti here in Chicago and it was great, as usually they are. Here is something I would like to share with your blog.

We have seen the Inti every time they come to Chicago for a long time. We are very proud, as a family that the Inti now recognize us as the Erazo family, and we always greet them with a kiss, a hug and a smile.
It was great to meet them again on Wednesday November 12th.

The Inti Illimani was presented in a theater, recently renovated, called Morse Theater. This new stage for concerts is small and beautiful, so it was a great addition to the intimate feeling that the concerts of Inti usually gives.

Unfortunately only played for 75 minutes, because they had another concert immediately after which we went. I'm certainly jealous of other cities, where they have the opportunity to hear a concert by Inti more than 80 minutes. Certainly we wanted more!

During the concert, Jorge took the chance to thank "Chicagoans" by choosing to Change and Hope, in reference to Obama. Isn´t he nice?

They are fabulous as ever and they left us to know who will be next year at Grant Park in Chicago. This is very good, if anyone remembers the show of Chicago, which is an excellent presentation, which definitely needs to be repeated again.

Here a commentary for parents - the song Vino Del Mar is a great song to get the babies nap time. Our 10-month-old son listened song by the end of the song, he was happy to sleep.

Inti Thanks for a great memory once more. And for Jorge, as always our "Che Viejo" we´ll see you soon.

Escrito en la carátula del CD “Lejanía”... 30 años... ¡del dicho al hecho hay mucho trecho! Fue en 1997, once años atrás, cuando Seves, Salinas y Durán todavía eran parte del grupo. ¿Qué pasó con los creadores de esa “música de una belleza misteriosa y celestial” (que es, en mi opinión, una de las mejores definiciones de la música de Inti-Illimani? Los miembros, que pasaron juntos muchos años de exilio, empezaron a abandonar el grupo uno a uno según su propio criterio, algo muy normal, porque es su opción propia y natural, y tienen la posibilidad de elegir salir del grupo y buscar sonidos nuevos, obras nuevas, nuevos proyectos, etc. Nadie puede acusarlos de dejar Inti-Illimani, ni tampoco lo hace. Todos aprecian y reconocen su talento, la música que crearon o cuyos arreglos realizaron, los que merecen la anterior definición. Sin embargo, sí es extraño e inaceptable su repentina reaparición bajo el nombre de “Inti-Illimani”.

Bueno, desde el punto de vista legal, es posible que tengan derecho a usar ese nombre, PERO...

- ¿No han pensado que sea posible que estén dañando a sus amigos, con quienes compartieron años y años de exilio?
- ¿No se les pasó por la cabeza que están lastimando a "Inti-Illimani", que es un símbolo de resistencia?
- ¿Tampoco se les pasó por la cabeza que están dañando a la Nueva Canción, sus creadores, sus seguidores en todo el mundo y, lo que es más importante, a la historia contemporánea de Chile?

En realidad, ustedes son músicos tan creativos, competentes y hábiles que no necesitan ningún nombre. ¿Es necesario vivir en el exilio para seguir unidos y seguir siendo creativos para contribuir a los valores de Chile?...

Pueden contribuir al arte y los valores de Chile y mantener su talento y creatividad
- cooperando con sus eternos compañeros,
- creando nuevas obras o
- sin hacer nada, por lo menos.

NO creando polémicas con sus compañeros de toda la vida...
NO siguiendo a Troncoso, que comercializa la Nueva Canción y otros valores artísticos chilenos.

Bueno, esto es lo que puedo ver a 14.000 km de distancia... ¡Ustedes están ahí mismo, por lo que pueden verlo mucho mejor!

Writes on the cover of the CD album Lejania…. 30 years… easier said than done!!!... It was in 1997, eleven years ago, when Seves, Salinas and Duran were still in the group. What happened to the creators of that “music of unearthly and mysterious beauty” (which, in my opinion, is one of the best definitions of Inti-Illimani music)? The members, who shared the exile with each other for many years, started to leave the group one by one at their own discretion, which is quite normal, because it is their own and natural choice, and they can select to leave and pursue new sounds, new works, new projects, etc. Nobody can, and does, accuse them of leaving Inti-Illimani. Everybody appreciates and acknowledges their talent, music they created and/or arranged which deserve the definition above. However, what the strange and unacceptable is sudden reappearance of them under the title “Inti-Illimani”.

Well, from legal point of view, you may be entitled to use the title “Inti-Illimani”….BUT,

- Haven’t you ever thought you would be hurting your friends, you shared the exile for years and years?
- Haven’t you ever thought you would be hurting “Inti-Illimani”, which is a symbol of Resistencia?
- Haven’t you ever thought you would be hurting Nueva Cancion, its originators, its worldwide followers, and most importantly, the contemporary history of Chile?

Actually, you are so creative, capable and competent musicians that you need any title. Is it necessary for you to remain in exile – Nobody hopes!!! – to remain in unity and keep being creative and contribute the values of Chile?...

You can contribute artistic values of Chile and keep your talent and creativity
- by cooperating your everlasting companions,
- by creating new works, or
- by doing nothing – at least!

NOT by having dispute with your everlasting companions,
NOT by pursuing Troncoso, who commercializes Nueva Cancion and other artistic values of Chile.

Well, that is what I can see from a distance of about 14,000 kms. You are down there, so you know better!
